Biography
Brian O’Neill is an adjunct faculty member within the Business Foundations Area in the Costello College of Business at George Mason University. He teaches BUS 200: Global Environment of Business and serves as the faculty advisor for the Brazilian Student Association (BRASA).
O'Neill is a seasoned professional with corporate, government, small business, and not-for-profit project experience. During his career, he has focused on streamlining business processes and implementing technology to improve organizational performance. His industry experience includes working as an independent management consultant and serving as the founding Director of the Office of Business Strategies and Solutions for the New York City Human Resources Administration/Department of Social Services (HRA/DSS), the largest social services agency in the country. At HRA, he led major clinical tracking and reporting systems projects. Before his government position, he worked as a consultant at CGI-AMS and began his career at Unisys in the Chicago suburbs. As a consultant, he collaborated with clients in Michigan, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. He led team members from China, India, Mexico, Spain, Sweden, and Türkiye on various projects.
O’Neill is also an adjunct assistant professor at Molloy University, where he previously served as graduate business program director and full-time faculty member. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he coordinated all academic and operational components of the MBA programs in accounting, business analytics, finance, healthcare administration, management, and marketing. Additionally, he co-led the development of the Bachelor of Professional Studies in Organizational Leadership program, which included seven new courses, such as Motivation and Performance Management, Team Leadership and Development, Change Management, and Capstone for Organizational Leadership. Furthermore, he led grant-funded initiatives to address the professional development and community capacity-building needs of nonprofit organizations that serve underserved populations. For example, he moderated a series of workshops, directed project teams of faculty, alumni, and students to address challenges at nonprofit organizations, and organized a conference on data utilization and collaboration for nonprofit professionals.
O'Neill's research interests include organizational identification, organizational commitment, job satisfaction, personality, and organizational identity. In 2025, he presented his paper, "A fresh examination of organizational identification and organizational commitment, with feeling," at the Academy of Management's 2025 annual meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark.
