Body

Mercatus Undergraduate Fellowship

The Undergraduate Fellowship is a competitive, semester-long program open to George Mason University undergraduates of all disciplines who are interested in political economy. Throughout the semester, Undergraduate Fellows read foundational and contemporary works in political economy and participate in regular discussion with other fellows, Mason faculty, and Hayek Program Scholars. In the past, students in the fellowship have discussed topics such as the political economy of militarism, women’s rights, exporting democracy, cryptocurrency, post-disaster community recovery, the morality of markets, and free banking. Undergraduate Fellows receive a total award of up to $1,000 per semester, which includes a stipend, meals, all required readings, and advice on research, jobs, and graduate school. Fellows are also eligible for research and conference funding.

Applications for the Fall 2023 semester are due May 20, 2023. The Undergraduate Fellowship follows a rolling admissions policy and applications will be evaluated monthly. Applications submitted after the deadline may be considered for future semesters. Learn more about the fellowship here.
